Uses Of Dental Lasers

Dental Lasers

Lasers are appliances that produce intense beams of light energy. When the light energy comes into contact with body tissues, there is a reaction. This reaction removes or reshapes the body tissues that it comes into contact with.

Dental lasers are used at either low densities or high densities depending on the procedure. They have been in use since the 1990s. Dental lasers are used in conjunction with other instruments and are safe and effective in treatment of a wide range of dental problems.

A Barrie dentist who is trained to use a laser administers dental lasers. The dentist must receive training, familiarize him or herself with the operating manual and practice within his or her scope. The high intensity dental lasers are used in surgery in place of drills because they can vaporize bones and tissues instantly. They are preferred over drills because they cause less pain, bleeding and minimal trauma to the surrounding tissues. However, their application does not cover all dental procedures. They cannot be used for metal fillings or replacing a cavity between two teeth.

  • Eliminates the need to drill

Our daughter was 5 weeks old when she had a frenectomy done at Molson Park Dental and we couldn’t be happier with the experience and end results. The entire team was so friendly and did such a wonderful job keeping me at ease during the procedure. Also, our daughter started nursing 100 times better immediately after the procedure was done. We can’t thank you enough for allowing us to continue our breastfeeding journey pain free and allowing our daughter the ability to nurse efficiently :)
