WHEN SHOULD I SEE A PERIODONTIST?

A periodontist is a dentist trained to diagnose and treat all types of gum disease. Even if you have a general dentist, you may wish to call a periodontist for an examination if you begin to experience symptoms such as:

  • Gum redness or swelling
  • Bleeding gum tissue when brushing teeth

These beginning indications of gum disease can often easily be treated when addressed early on. Waiting, however, can result in serious oral and systemic health issues.

If you are experiencing initial symptoms of gum disease, call Barrie periodontist Dr. Adam Chapnick at (647) 504-4407 to schedule an evaluation today.

In addition to swelling gum tissue that bleeds when brushed, symptoms of gum disease include:

  • Gum tissue pulling away from tooth roots
  • Loose or shifting teeth
  • Changes in bite tension
  • Persistent bad breath
  • Unpleasant taste in the mouth that does not respond to brushing
  • Pus in between teeth

These symptoms often indicate more advanced stages of gum disease and should be brought to the immediate attention of an experienced periodontist.

If you are in need or a periodontist in Barrie or surrounding areas of Ontario, please contact Chapnick Dental Office right away to schedule your examination with Dr. Chapnick.
