WHAT IS TOOTH BONDING?

If you plan to speak to a cosmetic dentist in Barrie about some minor imperfections in your otherwise healthy teeth that are keeping you from having full confidence in your smile, you should look into tooth bonding.

Tooth bonding is a simple procedure the dentists at Chapnick Dental Office use to correct problems such as:

  • Chipped teeth
  • Cracked teeth
  • Stained teeth
  • Crooked or misaligned teeth

Porcelain veneers can also address these issues, but tooth bonding is a less involved procedure. Our dentist might recommend it if your concerns are relatively mild.

Tooth bonding basically entails applying a composite resin material to the tooth or teeth in question, then shaping the resin so that it fits smoothly over the tooth. Our dentist will then use a special light to heat and harden the resin, after which we will remove any excess material that remains.

Tooth bonding can be completed in one office visit and allows you to retain your natural tooth structure. On the other hand, the resin isn’t as strong or sturdy as porcelain, and it isn’t as resistant to staining.

Our dentist will evaluate your condition and help you determine whether tooth bonding or porcelain veneers are right for you.

If you live in the Barrie, Ontario area and you’re curious about tooth bonding, you should speak to one of our dentists. Please contact Chapnick Dental Office today for a consultation.
