TYPES OF TEETH CROWNS

Teeth crowns, also known as dental crowns, are used by Barrie general dentist Dr. Adam Chapnick to address a number of cosmetic and functional issues. Dr. Chapnick may use crowns to protect teeth weakened by trauma, decay, or infection. These restorations are also used with dental bridges and implants to replace missing teeth.

Our general dentist offers two types of teeth crowns:

  • All porcelain
  • Porcelain fused to metal

Dr. Chapnick does not offer all-metal crowns as these are both more obtrusive and less effective than porcelain options.

Why Porcelain?

Porcelain crowns look and feel like natural tooth enamel, enabling them to fit seamlessly into your smile. What’s more, these crowns are capable of restoring full strength and function without requiring excessive perpetration or impacting adjacent teeth.

Porcelain is stain resistant and reflects light in the same manner as natural tooth enamel. Better still, caring for porcelain crowns requires little to no change to the routine you already have in place. Simply brushing and flossing every day and being sure to visit our general dentist twice yearly for cleanings is often all it takes to keep these restorations strong and attractive for years to come.
