TOOTH WHITENING: TAKE HOME VS. “LASER”

Laser teeth whitening seems to be a common term used to describe in-office tooth whitening procedures. The term ‘laser’ actually refers to the cool blue light used to activate the bleaching gel, which speeds up the bleaching process. Dr. Chapnick’s in-office tooth whitening ‘laser’ procedure is very different from the take home tray kits in many ways.

The entire in-office procedure is monitored and treatment can be adjusted at any point during the process. Toronto cosmetic dentist Dr. Adam Chapnick uses a stronger bleaching solution but protects your gums and tissues from contact to prevent irritation. The stronger solution usually lightens teeth within an hour with the help of the blue light that accelerates the bleaching action.

At-home tooth whitening tray kits use a weaker bleach solution. You will wear bleach-filled trays for up to four hours a day for a week or two, but with no direct supervision. So you will have to be vigilant in your commitment to get desired results and follow the instructions your cosmetic dentist gives you.

If you are ready to commit to a brighter smile from an experienced Toronto cosmetic dentist, please contact Chapnick Dental Office to schedule your personal consultation.
