THE IMPORTANCE OF BIANNUAL GENERAL DENTISTRY VISITS
Many people, not faced with acute dental problems, don’t understand the importance of biannual general dentistry visits. After all, if no pain is present and teeth and gums look healthy, visiting the dentist can seem unnecessary. However, regularly scheduled visits are not intended to treat acute issues – they are designed to prevent serious oral health problems from occurring.
Biannual visits serve two primary purposes: they allow for complete removal of plaque and tartar from all surfaces of the teeth and they provide Barrie dentist Dr. Adam Chapnick with an opportunity to ensure no unseen problems are developing. These problems can include tooth decay, plaque buildup below the gum line, oral cancer development, and even TMJ. In many cases, these problems can quickly and effectively be treated when caught early on. When allowed to progress however, they may result in serious discomfort and require more invasive treatments.
Dr. Chapnick encourages all of our patients to maintain regularly scheduled visits. He would be happy to discuss the importance of these visits with you in greater detail during your next trip to our office.
