SODA AND FRUIT JUICES
According to a new study published in the Journal of Public Health Dentistry, soda and fruit juice are the two leading causes of tooth erosion and decay. The study included 3,773 participants with varying levels of daily soda and fruit juice consumption. Researchers found that among those who consumed the most soda and fruit juice, 79 percent had some level of dental erosion and 15 percent of those displayed signs of erosion that was moderate to severe.
Barrie dentist Dr. Adam Chapnick recommends limiting your daily intake of fruit juice and reducing soda consumption to once or twice a week at most. These steps can help reduce erosion along with your risks for developing tooth decay and other oral health issues. Combining this moderation with daily brushing and flossing and twice yearly visits to our office can help your teeth stay strong, healthy, and beautiful for years to come.
