SIGNS OF TMJ
The joint that allows your jaw bone (mandible) to move is called the temporomandibular joint, or TMJ. The TMJ is a very small joint, but TMJ disorder, or TMD, can cause a wide variety of painful problems.
Symptoms of TMJ/TMD
TMJ problems are often overlooked or misdiagnosed because many symptoms caused by TMD are also associated with other conditions. The most common symptoms of TMD include:
- Clicking, popping, grinding, or stiffness of the jaw
- Difficulty hearing
- Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
- Dizziness
- TMJ migraine headaches
- Pain in the neck and shoulders
If you have some of these TMJ symptoms, especially if you’ve tried unsuccessfully to treat them, schedule a TMJ consultation at Chapnick Dental Office in Barrie or Toronto, Ontario. Our LVI-trained dentist Dr. Chapnick will evaluate your condition to determine if your symptoms could be the result of TMD.
