SENSITIVE TEETH AND TEETH WHITENING
Teeth whitening products have become increasingly associated with tooth and gum sensitivity. Fear of this discomfort has kept many people from getting the brilliant, white smiles they desire.
Modern teeth-whitening procedures—such as those offered by the Toronto dentists at the Chapnick Dental Office—are designed to minimize sensitivity while providing optimal results. We offer the Sapphire teeth whitening system, which noticeably brightens your smile in a single office visit with minimal to no discomfort.
Sapphire teeth whitening consists of a bleaching gel that contains both hydrogen peroxide and a desensitizing agent. The whitening solution is professionally applied to your upper and lower teeth; dental dams prevent the gel from coming in contact with your gums and other sensitive soft tissue in the mouth.
A low-heat plasma light is then used to activate the gel and accelerate the whitening process. The entire procedure takes place in a single, 90-minute office visit, which limits the amount of time the bleaching agent needs to be on your teeth and achieves significant results without the continuous use required by most over-the-counter teeth-whitening products.
For patients who prefer a take-home option, we also offer a Sapphire teeth-whitening solution that you can apply on your own using custom-fit whitening trays designed to fit your individual bite. Like the professional Sapphire procedure, the at-home option features a desensitizing agent, and the individualized trays reduce the potential for the bleaching gel to contact sensitive areas of your mouth.
