REPAIRING BROKEN OR FRACTURED TEETH

If you suffered a broken or fractured tooth or teeth, dental bonding may be the right treatment choice for you. Dental bonding can be performed in a single visit, it can be color matched to blend in with your natural teeth, and allows Dr. Chapnick to shape the broken tooth to match your other teeth, giving quality cosmetic dental results.

In the dental bonding procedure, a composite material is first selected and/or colored to match your natural tooth color. If necessary, the chipped surface of your tooth may be shaped or roughed to promote attachment of the bonding compound. The composite begins as a paste, which is applied at the site of the fracture and shaped to match your natural tooth. Then a curing light is used to harden the dental bonding. Finally, the dental bonding is polished to give it a luster more like that of your natural enamel.

Dental bonding is a great technique for repairing minor chipped or broken teeth, but depending on the severity of damage, you may need another treatment to properly repair your teeth. Porcelain veneers may be recommended if you need significant lengthening of the tooth, and if the structural integrity of the tooth has been compromised, a dental crown may be the best solution for repair.
