HOW LONG DO DENTAL VENEERS LAST?

If you’ve decided to have veneers applied to your teeth to fix worn enamel, uneven teeth, stained teeth, or other issues, or if you’re at the beginning of the veneer exploration process, you’re probably wondering how long dental veneers last. Veneers can be expensive, depending on the number needed and the material used, so you’ll want to know if you’re getting good value over time. Unfortunately, there isn’t a hard-and-fast time frame, since everyone is different and has different dental habits and routines (from the way you chew or grind your teeth to your teeth brushing routine), but in general:
- Porcelain veneers can last ten to fifteen years with proper care
- Composite veneers can last five to seven years
In addition to regular dental hygiene, including brushing twice a day, using mouthwash, flossing, and keeping dental appointments, you can prolong the life of your veneers by avoiding damaging habits such as chewing on ice or your fingernails, using your teeth to open packages, or grinding them. Avoiding foods and beverages that stain your teeth, such as tomato-based recipes and coffee or tea, can also keep your veneers white, bright, and free of stains.
