HOW DOES INVISALIGN WORK?

If you think that straightening crooked teeth means wires, discomfort, and forbidden foods, think again. Invisalign straightens teeth comfortably, conveniently, and effectively. And best of all, Invisalign is virtually invisible. Dr. Adam Chapnick of the Chapnick Dental Office is pleased to offer Invisalign treatments to his Barrie-area patients.
Like traditional metal braces, Invisalign moves your teeth by placing constant pressure on them. Over time, this pressure moves the teeth from their initial, crooked positions to the final, straightened arrangement. However, unlike metal braces, Invisalign relies on a series of 20 to 30 transparent straighteners rather than rigidly attached wires. Each straightener is worn for two weeks and discarded before moving on to the next in the series.
Although the aligning process relies on wearing the aligners as much as possible, Invisalign appliances are removable, which means you can brush and floss as you normally would. Better yet, you can remove Invisalign when you eat, so there are no dietary restrictions as there are for traditional metal braces.
The aligners are custom-built for you based on the original positions of your teeth and the desired final, straightened locations. Dr. Chapnick builds the entire series as a virtual computer model before fabrication, and you can even see how your final result will look before you start.
