GETTING INTO THE HABIT OF FLOSSING
Flossing is one of the most effective ways to prevent gum disease and tooth decay. Flossing once daily is good, but twice daily is optimal – though many people have a difficult time getting into this habit.
There are a number of ways to remind yourself to floss, from setting an alarm on your cellphone to leaving a note on your bathroom mirror. One new service, text2floss, will even send you text reminders every day for two weeks. These and similar methods can help you get the point where you no longer need reminders to floss every day.
Once the habit is established, flossing takes little more than one to two minutes a day, but its benefits can last for a lifetime. Barrie dentist Dr. Adam Chapnick would be happy to discuss flossing with you during your general dentistry appointments to help you establish habits that keep your teeth and gums at peak health well into the future.
