DENTISTRY FOR CHILDREN

The ideal time to introduce a child to a dental practice is age 3. As soon as teeth start to erupt, however, it is prudent to start dental care. although, a comprehensive exam may not be accomplished, a well informed dental office can give you good advice on early care. It may begin with the child observing a parent during the parent’s appointment. When a child has a first visit as a scheduled patient they will be shown the “ equipment and tools” of the dental office. Mr. Thirsty(the suction) is usually a big hit! A peek in the mouth may seem to be all that is accomplished, but this will allow the child to form a relationship with the dental staff. So if you are a parent of a young child, consider scheduling an appointment at the Chapnick Dental Office, sooner than later before a child misconceptions or fears can develop.

Furthermore, the earlier you bring your child to see the dentist, the sooner any growth or developmental issue can be detected, possibly preventing the need for orthodontics in the child’s future. Neuromuscular and TMJ issues can often be caused by a minor airway issues in early childhood.

As a parent my children have had regular dental visits at the Chapnick Dental Office, from the age of 3. Now at the ages of 11 and 8 my kids look forward to, and are at ease with all of their dental treatment!
