MISSING TEETH
Missing teeth can be unsightly, leading to discomfort or a loss of confidence in your smile. They also pose serious functional issues, resulting in tooth slippage, jaw shrinkage, and uneven bite tension. These problems can affect adjacent teeth, leading to additional tooth loss. They can also affect the structure of your jaw, leading to a change in your natural appearance.
When you are missing one or more teeth, Dr. Chapnick and his team can assess your smile and provide you with a customized solution to restore strength and beauty to your smile.
Replacing Missing Teeth
At our Barrie, Ontario office, we offer tooth replacement options including dental bridges and dental implants. Both of these options can provide remarkable results, but there are differences you should be aware of.
Dental bridges require a dental crown on one or more adjacent teeth. The bridge is then secured to the back of the dental crowns to hold your replacement tooth in place. All dental restorations used in dental bridges are shaped, sized, and colored to match adjacent teeth.
Dental implants are secured directly into your jawbone. The process for acceptance of your implant can take several months but, once accepted, they become a permanent part of your smile. Like dental bridges, a customized false tooth is used to cover the implant and restore a strong and seamless smile.
The option best for you replacing your missing teeth can be determined during your initial consultation with one of our experienced dentists.
You don’t have to eliminate these beverages from your diet, but you can alter the frequency of intake and the method. Instead of a daily cup of tea in the morning, switch to every other morning or just on certain days. Use a straw that will bypass your teeth and deliver your favorite beverage farther into your mouth. After your morning coffee, brush your teeth or swirl water in your mouth. And, keep your regular dental appointments for cleanings to fight stains and discolorations, as well as tooth decay.
