TOOTH BONDING CONCEALS FLAWS

Tooth bonding conceals cosmetic flaws of the teeth. Cosmetic issues with teeth can include:

  • Chips and cracks
  • Minor gaps
  • Uneven length, size or shape
  • Stains and discoloration

If your teeth have any of these characteristics, you may feel embarrassed to smile, and dental bonding can create a more uniform smile.

Dental bonding material is made of composite resin, and the color will be matched to your natural teeth. Tooth bonding can last up to 10 years. Avoid chewing candies, ice and other hard materials to prevent cracks in the bonding.

The tooth bonding procedure often requires only one dental visit, depending on how many teeth are being bonded. First, the surface of your tooth will be roughened so the bonding will adhere to it. Next, the malleable resin will be molded onto the tooth. As a last step, your dentist will use a small light to activate and harden the material.

Tooth bonding achieves results similar to porcelain veneers, and a dentist can help you determine which treatment is best suited to your desired outcome. The two options differ in cost, completion time, material and other factors your dentist will discuss.
