TOOTH FILLINGS

BARRIE

Dental Fillers

If you open your mouth wide, can other people see how many times you have sat in a dentist’s chair for cavity fillings? If your mouth is sprinkled with silver fillings, it may be time to consider having them replaced with tooth-coloured fillings.

Cosmetic dentist, Dr. Adam Chapnick offers this simple dental procedure so that you can keep your smile looking beautiful and white despite any tooth decay or damage you may have.

How to Hide Signs of Tooth Decay

At Molson Park Dental Office, our goals are to keep your teeth as healthy as possible while also preserving and enhancing the beauty of your smile. Tooth-coloured fillings allow Dr. Chapnick and his team to covertly treat tooth decay so no one will ever notice. We can hide your signs of tooth decay using:

Tooth fillings

Composite Fillings

Tooth-coloured, or white composite, fillings are used in the same manner as silver amalgam fillings. The decay is removed and the tooth is filled with a resin material that resembles putty. The colour of the resin is matched to your natural tooth colour so it does not stand out.

Some people elect to have their old silver fillings removed and replaced with tooth-coloured fillings. This is a procedure that Dr. Chapnick and his team in Barrie and Toronto can perform safely and effectively.

Porcelain Inlays and Onlays

Porcelain inlays and onlays are used when your tooth has suffered decay or damage that is more extensive than what a regular filling can fix, but not severe enough for a dental crown.

TOOTH CROWN WORK

Rather than covering the entire tooth like a dental crown, porcelain inlays correct problem areas in the tooth’s indented space, and porcelain onlays are used when there are problems on the ridges or cusps of the tooth.

Dr. Chapnick and his team use e.max porcelain materials to fit you with dental inlays and onlays. These are custom-made in a dental laboratory for an absolute precise fit and colour to match your natural tooth. Because metal is not used in this dental restoration, there are some advantages to porcelain inlays and onlays:

  • Porcelain does not expand and contract with changes in temperature, eliminating the possibility of tooth fracture
  • Porcelain bonds with your tooth, providing additional strength to it
  • Porcelain looks more natural than silver fillings
